Port of Kamsar Master Plan Study, Guinea

The port of Kamsar is currently a single user port, used and operated by CBG and comprises a bauxite export jetty and two small quays for the import of cargo by small general cargo vessels and for the mooring of tugs, pilot boats and other small crafts.

Port of Kamsar Master Plan Study, Guinea In the region there are now several plans for the development of port facilities for the export of bulk cargo by other mining companies. Royal Haskoning was appointed to carry out a Master Plan study to develop a plan which provides a phased development of the Port of Kamsar on the long term. The project comprises a market assessment of the export of dry bulk products but also a forecast of domestic import and export in the Kamsar region and the requirements for a fishing port. Future berth requirements for all cargo and a phasing plan will be developed.

The study will also comprise a rail and road transportation analysis and review the materials handling methods. A design for an entrance channel will be carried out including a capacity study for the same channel to allow more parties to use the channel. Other subjects that will be touched in the study include port operations (tugs pilotage etc), environmental issues, port staffing requirements, legal aspects of setting up Port Autonome de Kamsar and cost estimates for the works
