Haskonings Diving Services were commissioned by RNLI to carry detailed inspections of seven of their boathouse slipways around the south west of England and Ireland. Our staff inspected the current condition of the slipways to determine their serviceability. This included visual inspections, sea bed level surveys and ultrasonic steel thickness measurements. All findings and recommendations were presented to the client in report format.

The BASREC shipyard was originally constructed in the early 1960’s and is still in continuous use.  The client employed Haskonings Engineering Divers to undertake detailed above and below water inspections of the concrete and steelwork structures.

The client was provided with a detailed engineering report outlining both short term and long term maintenance recommendations with indicative costs so that the yard could from budgets and programmes to maximise the utilisation of the structures whilst carrying out essential and prioritised maintenance.

Haskonings Diving Services were commissioned by LPTA to carry out inspection and supervision of the reconstruction of the 4km long breakwater that protects the Port of Tripoli.

Our staff carried out assessments of the contractors working methodology to ensure compliance with both construction and safety guidance and regulations.  As much of the critical construction is carried out underwater and out of sight our dive team provide the engineering expertise to carry out detailed and qualified inspections of the works in all locations.

HNMB Portsmouth Dockyard Inspections

The project involved undertaking an Assessment Study of all the seawalls within the Naval Base with recommendations for repair options of the defects that were found. Sections of the seawalls date from the late 17th Century.

The seawalls totalled over 7km in length and comprises a mixture of masonry, concrete and steel sheet piled faced walls.

The Final Report included sections summarising the Historic Development of the Naval Base, results from petrographic analysis carried out on material samples and included 75 Record Drawings showing the defects observed on the structures.

Mesiaeed pipe installation

Royal Haskoning was commissioned to undertake inspections of 1.8km of glass reinforced plastic pipe being installed as the water intake to a new $2.3bn, 2000MW power plant.  The inspections included the associated intake structure and manholes.  Emphasis was based on the construction methodology in line with the Contractor's method statements as well as supervision and guidance on all aspects of health and safety in relation to both diving and above water operations.  Successful regular communications with the Client, Mesiaeed Power, was a key factor to the project.
